Q & A with Judith

What does it mean to “break the assignments of any spirits sent against us and send them to Jesus to deal with them as he will”? Why not send them to hell or the abyss?

I do not believe I have authority in the realm of hell, so I would not command a demon to go there. I only have authority to do what the Holy Spirit asks me to do, and that is to command the spirit to leave a child of God. We want the person to be free from the influence of the spirit.

Jesus is present with His authority and I am simply His representative. The demon comes out of a person, goes over to Jesus and bows to Jesus’ authority. This is an image that people have seen in visions. Demons are very powerful beings. John Paul Jackson, in his book Needless Casualties of War, helps us understand that when we deal with the demonic, we are stepping into a very serious battle.

I am concerned when I hear people ridicule spirits. We don’t have to be afraid, but we need to treat the demonic world with respect, meaning I do not recommend mocking them. I would compare this behavior with walking up to the bully on the playground and saying, “Your mother smells bad.” Why engage that way? Why welcome a response? Demons enjoy retaliation.

We teach people to only say necessary words and be done with the conversation. I do not recommend any further engagement. Send them to Jesus and tell them not to come back. Deliverance involves an evil realm and Jesus is the one who has defeated this realm. Let Him deal with it.
